My best guess, is likely that the dragons are somehow the traditional power in this place considering there's a lot of dragon symbology around Somnius, but no one seems to know why. Some of the Gelflings also worship the Moon, and a dual deity cosmology isn't uncommon across realms. So a companion to the Moon wouldn't be unlikely. Further, 'Somnius' itself is a bit too close to latin for my comfort, and means 'a dream'."
