IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Puck/"Owen Burnette"
Species: Fae
Canon Disney's Gargoyles (the cartoon, not the comic continuation)
Canon point: Season 2, episode 5 "The Mirror", right before he's summoned
Character Age: 398, looks in his high 20s while both Puck and Owen
CRAU: N/A
CRACU Explanation: N/A
Character Appearance: As Puck|As Owen
Powers and Abilities:
All of these are gone as of his arrival in game:

  • Spell Casting: Puck can cast various magic, mostly based around changing things (buildings, reality itself) or beings (people, gargoyles, other living things) from one form to another. (A human into a Gargoyle, a Gargoyle into a dog, things of that nature)
  • Reality Bending: Puck can influence reality, noted in the “Spell casting”, “Illusions” and “Animating lifeless things” sections.
  • Flying: Puck can hover off ground and fly as easily as walking
  • Possession: Puck can temporarily possess someone’s body and use it for a limited amount of time.
  • Conjuration: Puck’s magic requires verbal command to activate. Puck choses to use this in the form of rhymes to help his concentration (and probably also just for the fun of it). Puck can reasonably come up with new rhymes for new magic, given his time alive and in the service of Oberon. He has a selection of spells already tied to rhymes that he’s memorized. (See other sections)
  • Shape-Shifting: Puck can shape-shift into a human form. In this form he has short blonde hair, wears glasses, and goes by the name Owen Burnette. His voice also changes with the transformation, going from lively and energetic to subdued and more businesslike. He doesn’t announce that he and Owen are the same for personal reasons and someone trying to figure it out would need to see him transforming between the two. While Owen he gives off no magical energy that could out him as Fae and has no access to magic outside of the ability to shapeshift back into Puck.
  • Illusions: Puck can cast illusions over an area that can appear real to the point of being mistaken for reality itself. Doing a large scale illusion will drain his energy and require downtime to recover. He can cast minor illusions such as sound effects without draining himself. He can cast a projection-like illusion of himself and give it a command that it will follow once before vanishing.

    For example:

Puck casts invisibility, but then casts an illusion of himself and gives it the command “Run out of the room”. The illusion would run out of the room and then vanish once it had done so.

  • Invisibility: Puck can turn invisible temporarily.
  • Animating lifeless things: Not the same as animating a thing or being who has died. Puck can temporarily animate an object (a plant, a statue, etc.) that will come to life and act on its own. This lasts for the duration of the spell, and depending on the energy used, can fade quickly.

These are non magical and aren't gone as of his arrival:

  • Hand to hand combat Puck is skilled at hand to hand combat, focusing more on offense vs defense. This is mostly used while in his Owen disguise due to the body and strength differences.

  • Weaponry: Puck, as Owen, is shown handling guns and gun-like weapons on par with someone who’s been professionally trained. Puck himself prefers magic.

  • Technology: Puck is from a mid-90s fantasy infused version of Manhattan and is used to technology of the time. He would understand the communicator as being the same as a car phone.

  • Business management: As Owen Puck serves as Xanatos’s personal assistant. He can manage schedules, records, and data in order to keep a business running.

What did your character wish for? That his employer, David Xanatos, would learn that magic can just be enjoyed instead of everything being seen as a profit margin in the works.
What potion did they receive? Red- fire magic
Did they drink it? No (* this has changed as of January 2024's TDM)

CHARACTER QUESTIONS
Keep this entire section to a minimum of 1k words give or take.
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?: Puck is most bonded to David Xanatos, the human he agreed to be employed by. After giving Xanatos the option of “One wish or [Puck’s servitude]”, Puck was impressed that Xanatos picked the second choice and began to respect the human for having the courage to even do that. Puck misses Xanatos the most, seeing him as a source of steady employment and a way to avoid returning to Avalon.

2. What are they most afraid of? Puck’s biggest fear is Oberon’s temper and the havoc that can happen as a result of him losing it. His second fear is that humans will someday become boring to him, leading to a monotonous existence. Puck has shown bravery in challenging Oberon as needed often without fear and is considered the strongest of Oberon’s Children for his magic abilities.

3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?

Puck is mercurial-- he can swing from being jovial and outgoing to being angry and feeling slighted at being treated unfairly. He takes after the Shakespeare version of the character in this regard and trades like for like. If someone shows him kindness, trusts him to do his job and treats him like an equal or at least a capable partner, Puck will work with them pretty happily. On the other hand, if someone makes demands, yells, and is generally rude and disrespectful, Puck will give that attitude right back to them but usually go ahead and work with them after he’s gotten over it. Puck is also manipulative when it comes to using his magic for someone else and will normally not correct a request even if it goes against what the original intent of a wish is. He operates more “in the spirit of a request” whenever it suits him.

(Example- “Get rid of all of the humans” becomes “Get rid of all of the humans by turning them into non-human beings and giving them false memories that they’ve always been such.”. Or, “I want to be human in the day” turns into “[You] will be human in daylight but this will come with a painful transformation between your forms”.” Things of that nature). He also has a soft spot for certain humans in his life, and humanity in general, which could be used against him.

Mentally, his weaknesses are pretty in line with his emotional ones. Puck’s temper can get the best of him, causing him to snap at things who could and would probably try to kill him in retaliation. He’s also not a fan of Fae politics, so while he doesn’t try to be insulting and condescending, it can come out when talking about Avalon itself , especially when comparing how it is to how it appears in pop culture. Puck will lie by omission, keep notes on beings he knows and keep his metaphorical dance card open for whoever or whatever wants to do business. He does care about people and things, he just assumes (sometimes incorrectly) that those things should be able to handle his specific brand of friendship.

As Owen, Puck is much more toned down and businesslike, but still caring. He’s a hard worker and will freely give information as needed to benefit his employer but also to help others. (S1E5).

Physically Puck’s weakness is his magic. It runs on a finite system and overusing his abilities can cause him to pass out for up to 2 hours after casting. There’s evidence that this has been done once as a ruse to avoid conversation, but there’s other evidence that excessive magic use drains his energy and requires recovery. Being Fae, he’s also not immune to the idea of iron being an issue. If he’s chained in iron, his powers become muted and Puck is magically locked to the area where his summoning has happened until the chains are removed or he’s physically escorted to another place. This doesn’t change his ability to float or cast magic, though it does hinder the second and could require using more energy as an amplifier; leading to an exhaustion cycle after.

4. What would make them happiest? Being able to stay out of Avalon and the Gatherings without risking getting into a fight with Oberon or seeing Manhattan threatened.

5. What’s their type for a lover? Puck is never shown being interested in finding love himself, but going by the character his ideal type would be someone who could keep up with his energy and be ready to defend against any threats, either human or supernatural.
