It was certainly dramatic enough to watch, given Loki was not using his flight abilities or his own magic beyond creating copies and teleporting to confuse his enemies. The telporting might actually be new to Puck, and Loki was doing it in such a way that with his copies it was difficult to keep track of who was the 'real' one. Add to that Loki already fighting less in a head-on-overpower way and more in a sneaky-dancing-dodging type way, and it had to be a show.

Holding up one hand, Loki let it glow green and the targets all stopped at the signal. Then he looked up and around for Puck. "Nothing--they're not that sentient. I get a sting though and a reminder to do better. Hello Puck!"

It was a show, and Puck was fine to watch for a moment. He waved and landed on the ground before he walked over leisurely. "How focused on improving! But I shouldn't be surprised. Hello, Loki." He looked a the targets thoughtfully before he shrugged.

"Your dance moves are very nice, by the way."

Loki chuckled with the compliment and bowed a bit. "Enjoying the show, are you?" His style of fighting was different compared to what was normal for an Asgardian. He couldn't simply rely on brute strength along, or overpowering his foes easily physically.

"As much as I was trained as an Asgardian, I have to fight somewhat differently than they do. I can't simply rely on brute strength or overpowering physical force the way they can. Which is not to say they can't be graceful or swift as well. Asgardians are well known as strong warriors in a variety of ways. But...I was and ever will be weaker than them because I'm not an Asgardian."

"I am, of course!" Puck even clapped a little and grinned. "That sounds familiar. I've had to adjust my fighting style on occasion, but what kind of fae would I be otherwise? It would be fun to try weaponry, at least once." A beat.

"Well. Maybe not fun for whoever I'm aiming for, but you know what I mean-- and I understand. You need to have different ways to accommodate, but that's one of the things I love about you."

"What kind of weapons would you want to try? I've also never really heard of fae fighting other than in the abstract sense. Were I to go just by basics, not knowing you as well as I do, I'd guess that as a trickster you'd also stick mostly to your magic." This was all also not taking Owen into account.

"Oh we can fight with almost anything, but it's true that a lot of us stick to magic over physical attacks. I think it'd be a fun challenge to combine both of them-- it'd keep opponents on their feet, as much as it'd keep me amused." But also there would be some honing of his skills for Owen's benefit. Knowing how to break bones was a useful skill as a bodyguard, but mixing weaponry into it would give Puck a better way to protect others.

"I'm thinking of knives, if anything. Brass knuckles are good if you can get close enough. But knives can be thrown, which makes them better for long range."

Loki listened, and then smiled broadly. "Well, you're in luck my good fellow, if you wish to practice or learn. Daggers of the wielded and thrown variety are my specialty."

Puck grinned, looked around the area and then back to Loki. "Both, but for now practicing would be the better choice. A skill assessment, first. Then I can see where I'm at and what to improve on." He shifted his weight idly from one leg to the other.

"Hopefully it isn't as hard as I'm picturing." It was much easier to use magic in his form, but Puck was nothing if not adaptable. He could learn.

Loki held out his hands, and conjured his daggers in a flash of green before flipping them to be hilt first for Puck to take. "Let me know if you'd like to try with my throwing daggers too. The pair I just lent you are good for melee or throwing."

Puck took the daggers, a little gingerly as he tested the weight and how they felt. "Oh these are pleasant!". Adjusting his grip and stepping to the side, Puck brought the one being held in his dominate hand up as if aiming at someone. With a thoughtful hum he looked to the targets and got into a throwing position.

He leaned back and then forward, pushing the dagger from his dominate hand and watched as it sailed towards the target, struck where one of its shoulders would be, and then landed on the ground with a thud.

Puck burst into laughter and straightened up. "Right. I'll need to get better at that, or just combine it with magic to control it."

"Which would you prefer? I'm proficient at throwing it without magic, but magic can help." Loki chuckled a bit. "I insisted on knowing how to do so without magic, just in case. It wasn't until I came here however that I ever needed that skill truly."

"Hm.. Both sound good, but for the start, learning to do it with magic would make the most sense. If I suddenly throw a knife and put magic behind it, then I don't think that would be as much of a surprise. And I can apply what I learn to other aspects."

Puck looked back to Loki with a smile, not vocalizing how Owen Burnette would suddenly improve in his own handling of knives.

"I'd almost caution the other approach, if only so you're prepared when magic can't help." Loki shrugged though. "But it is, entirely, your decision. Would you like to see more proper technique for the ones you're using now, or would you like to start with daggers designed only for throwing?"

"No, that's good advice that I'll take. For now, let's start with these. I can use the ones only designed for throwing afterwards." Puck idly floated into the air and brushed some of his hair aside. "Oh, that's something else- doing this in the middle of flight will be another challenge!"

A corner of Loki's mouth wanted to twitch into a smirk. He kept himself from doing so. "That's what practice is for. Learn to do the basics without thinking, then learn to 'think' of how best to deal in a situation with them. You know I'm happy to work with you and practice."

"Oh, then it's like body memory!" Well, that didn't make it sound easier but it did help ease Puck's concern that he couldn't get to that point. He'd done it with magic, it was just a matter of doing it again with weapons. "And likewise I'm happy to keep learning. So, throwing. Any tips or exercises you do when practicing?"

"None that will help you at the moment, other than perhaps to get you a good set of gloves." Loki said with a soft laugh. "Once you're consistently hitting the target and having it stick, I can offer more tips or corrections."

Puck looked at his hands and nodded thoughtfully. "Gloves, right. That would help with the grip." He grinned at Loki. "Then I'll look for some and keep practicing. This will be fun!"

"Specifically, you'll want fingerless so you still have some fine control, but you're protecting yourself." A soft smile, and Loki took Puck's hands. "I'll get you a pair, if you'll let me." Puck might've noticed that Loki usually always wore fingerless gloves or some kind of arm and hand-covering himself.

"That does make sense. It'd be embarrassing to try to do some fancy work and have the knife simply drop." Puck rested his hands in the others and nodded. "Of course, why would I turn down a thoughtful gift?"

"Good. For now though, you practice." Then he brought Puck's hands up to kiss both of them, before letting go. Stepping back, to watch and offer advice or tips if wanted and as needed.
